Old Route 47 Missouri River Bridge Implosion

With NPN Environmental employees living in and near Washington Missouri, and numerous projects completed in Franklin and Warren Counties, all eyes were on the demolition of the old Route 47 Missouri River Bridge on April 11, 2019.

The old Route 47 Missouri River Bridge, which opened in 1936, was in need of replacing due to its deteriorating condition. The bridge carried about 11,000 vehicles a day and served as a vital link to the communities on both sides of the river. The old bridge had narrow lanes, no shoulders, restrictive weight limits and required a regular cycle of maintenance work. The new $63 million bridge provides a safer and more efficient travel for the many motorists going between Franklin and Warren Counties.
